Printable follow-up activities
A game for two players. Each child needs a copy of the Splitting swamp activity sheet, a set of place value cards with hundreds, tens and units in the pack, and a coloured pencil (each a different colour). The activity involves children identifying the value of digits in 3-digit numbers.

If children are working with 4-digit numbers, add a thousands digit to each number before photocopying the worksheet and they can play with thousands cards as well.
Pairs of children can play. Each pair needs a copy of the Double Demon activity sheet. The sheet contains two sets of numbers, one for each player. Players cut ou their set of numbers and shuffle them. They take it in turns to each lay down a card on their pile. If a number and its double are both on the table at the same time, the first player to shout 'double' wins the pair. The winner is the player with the most pairs when there are no cards left in play.

This game could also be played as a version of Pelmanism ('Pairs'). Children lay all the cards face down randomly. They then take it in turn to turn over two cards. If the cards show a number and its double they win the pair. The winner is the player with the most cards when there are no more on the table.
